Look, I am not sure which of these two gorgeous looking people were actually the easiest to work with – but boy, did we have a great time photographing them!

First, we photographed Dylan and the boys at Melrose Arch and then the lovely bride and bridesmaids at Summerplace. Well, that said, I must admit that this was my first (and hopefully not the last) wedding that I have done at Summerplace – what a great venue!

So much opportunity and wonderful lighting – just so fantastic, that I was reluctant to let go of the bride and groom. Dylan I must make special mention of your positive attitude towards the camera, you were great to work with and I really wish all grooms could play so well in front of the lens.

Enjoy the next three weeks in Thailand! See you soon.

Well, what can I say? With such a lovely bride and such a kind bridegroom – you can just have loads and loads of fun. Angela is a thoroughbred Scot and when they speak you really have to listen closely to hear what they are saying! The accent is so cool. Even Martin got into a kilt for this great occasion- buddy you looked and acted the part , well done!

Hope you have a lovely time in Mauritius.

Under the African Sky

Kelley and Stephan met whilst working in the UK. She is originally from the USA and Stephan a “boerseun” from SA. Needless to say, there were family and friends from different parts of the world and we got to meet all these lovely people at the Edeni Private Game Reserve somewhere in the bushes of the Limpopo Provence.

Kelly and Stephan will be settling-in in the USA soon – on one of those romantic snow covered mountain slopes in Denver, Colorado.

Have fun guys! One day when we visit the USA again, we might just pop in to say “Howdy!”

I am amazed at the beautiful venues Johannesburg has to offer couples. Coming from the Cape the sea, mountains and vineyards has a special place in my heart but I must confess the longer I am here the more I fall in love with the surroundings of this city

Talia and Coenie, your venue surpassed my imagination and if I could have stretched out your session for another 2 hours I would have done so without any regret! It was a pleasure photographing the two of you and your bride’s maids and I must also make special mention of your parents. We felt very blessed by the interest and care they showed towards us. Thanks so much, it’s always inspiring to see families so close as you are and it makes every image captured just a little more special.

We had an incredible wedding at Lezar Opstal today, Ariana and Werner you couldn’t have wished for a more blessed day, and when I say blessed you surely were blessed with great weather and i mean great weather because for once the sun was shining.

The thrill of the day was undoubtedly the great sunset and catching the train on our way back to the venue, talk about perfect timing.Wherever you are, I know the honeymoon is a secret destination, enjoy and have a safe journey.

It’s not every day that it rains for most of your wedding day, never mind the bridal room being flooded, light bulbs are bursting, roofs leaking and your wedding shoes sinking ankle deep into the grass on your way to the Church.

The Wedding Workshop

Welcome to the Off Camera Flash Workshop to be held on the 12th, 13th and 14th June 2009 in Heidelberg Gauteng.

I am excited to bring you this workshop to be presented by myself, Mario Sales & Petrus Saayman.

Workshop Content

Our theme: Off Camera Flash Techniques with your Coffee Table Book in mind. The purpose of our workshop is not only the image opportunities you can create with OCF, but also how to design a fine art page with your images in mind. This will help you to think about the end result you are going to create for your presentation, on the second day of the OCF workshop. Our main theme is OCF, but with an incentive, because we don’t want our students snapping away at brides all day without thinking about the final presentation of their OCF images.

We are also looking for your help, would you like the opportunity of being photographed for a day in a wedding dress. Any of our previous brides or future brides may volunteer for the half day session including professional models who would like to add wedding images to their portfolio for free for a full day session.

Lost in Portugal

Marlene & Paulo, my heart actually stopped. For the first time ever I could not find the Church and this even after purchasing a GPS a week before just to avoid such an incident. The rain didn’t help either, it came down in buckets. Eventually a kind gentlemen at a fuel station sent me on the right track.

Twenty minutes late, wet and anxious we silently slipped into Church. It’s like you never knew we went missing…hmmm

Thank goodness, the photographer just arrived!!

Yes that’s how it was! Stallo and Harry, what a marvelous opportunity your wedding presented to Nadine and I. We had a splendid time and I must say I loved the chaos and fun photographing more than a hundred happy, yelling, family members.

Cherish the Dress

While in Durban for a two day break we had the opportunity to photograph two couples.

The beach front was inaccessible due to the high winds so we moved inland to rolling grass hills to photograph husband and wife Wayne and Anandi The location was so different from shooting in the city and I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed the photographing our couple on the green hills of Natal.

Wayne and Anandi thanks so much for modeling for us. You were so relaxed and into the moment.

Trash the Dress

Our second couple in Durban was Shaun and Ruvenna. Now I must compliment both of you, especially Ruvenna as this was no easy task walking around a waterfall, sinking into the sand and avoiding fresh water crabs in a heavy red dress. We also had to contend with the harsh sun and lots of spray from the waterfall. None the less you did well and make a great couple to photograph.

I also need to thank Neil from Neil Cuninghame Photography for making all the arrangements for us. Thanks for all the effort you put into this Neil.
